Is he a childhood friend, a conman, a vagabond, or a blessing in disguise? Complemento is a mysterious yet charming character who eavesdrops on people in the park, and suddenly appears to offer his help if he senses there is a problem. Affairs of the heart are his specialty, and though he has angelic qualities, Complemento does not hesitate to behave like a scoundrel to accomplish his mission of mending broken hearts by becoming what others lack.
Gig Guizado is a performer, playwright, and translator. Her adaptation of Rafael Guizado's Symphony for Six Actors was featured in Out of the Wings Festival 2017. Her poetry has appeared in The Emerson Review, Rogue Agent Journal, Salamander Ink Magazine, and elsewhere. Her adaptation of Rafael Guizado's Symphony for Six Actors premiered in Out of the Wings Festival 2017. Her translation of Rafael Guizado's Complemento was featured in Out of the Wings Festival 2019. COMPLEMENTO was originally performed as a radio play on La Radiodifusora Nacional, the national radio where Rafael Guizado served as the founding director. The first stage production was by Colombia's national theatre, la Compañia Nacional de Teatro, at the Teatro Colón.
Sarah O'Connell, The Asylum's Artistic Director since 2003, is originally from San Francisco Bay Area and served as the Associate Artistic Director of Impact Theatre. She holds a Master of Drama degree in Directing from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS). Her work has been performed internationally and includes several regional and world premieres. She is an alumnus of the Director's Labs in L.A. and Chicago, and La Mama ETC in Umbria. In addition to teaching at UNLV, she has worked at American Conservatory Theatre, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, the San Francisco Mime Troupe, and Glasgow's Theatre Cryptic.
